Pineapple Mango Salsa – A Simple Versatile Recipe

Cooling and refreshing Pineapple Mango salsa is an instant favorite. The sweet fruit is mixed with black beans, jalapeno, cilantro, and red onion. Guaranteed to brighten any meal. Whether served with chips, grilled fish or meat it is a great accompaniment without a doubt.

Pineapple Mango Salsa – Just Chop and Mix

Its as easy as cutting up all the ingredients and mixing them in a large bowl. Fresh mangos and pineapples are obviously at their freshest during the summer months. Although they have become available all year long due in part to export.

How to Tell the Fruit is Ripe

With pineapples the simple way to tell is there is a slight give when squeezed. Also the bottom of the pineapple should smell fragrant and sweet. The same is true for mangos. They should have a slight give when squeezed. The mango skin should also be vibrant colored and blemish free.

A Versatile Side Dish for Many Meals

Of course you could serve this with tortilla chips for a snack. But that is just a beginning. Almost and type of protein and any preparation work well. How would you use it? Let us know by sending us a comment.

Beef:

Grilled steaks cuts that are marinated. Such as London Broil, Tri-tip, Skirt Steak, as well as Flank and Hanger Steaks. The salsa makes for a nice counter-point. Add it as a topping for hamburgers.

Chicken:

Highly spiced chicken either whole, cut up or specific pieces. Nicely contrast with the mango and pineapple. The obvious choice besides grilled would be Chicken tacos. Try Our Chicken Tinga Tacos

Fish, Shrimp or Lobster:

Fried or Baked Snapper, Grilled Mahi or any type of mild fish. Lobster and Shrimp both Broiled or on the grill.

Just a few suggestions that come to mind.
